'KHET' TO PLATE

India is an agrarian culture. We have been agriculturalists since the beginning of time.

Indian philosophy is about constant practice. These practices were made immortal by ritualizing them and spreading them through oral traditions. One such practice that has been created into rituals, from sowing the seeds in the farm to harvesting the crops, agriculture. It is one trade which is common for cultures throughout the country, and the harvest season is celebrated as Sankranti in Maharashtra, Bihu in Assam, Lohri in the North to Pongal in the South. Many other areas and cultures have varied terminology for the festivities.

The harvest season is about celebrating the lush farms all around the country and looking forward to wholesome nourishment. At Project Otenga, we believe that farm – fresh produce by local farmers, whether they’re in rural lands or urban balconies and backyards, shall be celebrated.

Celebrating the farms, the farmers and keeping the Indian rituals of celebrating the harvest season alive, we celebrated the harvest season with people across boundaries of different cultures as a community cook-out, folk Bihu performances and sharing of cultural anecdotes!
